The RobotOur robot posed a rather great challenge throughout the process of making it, but the end result was worth all of the difficulties. We have a modular design, meaning the arm and the ball launcher are interchangeable. Depending on the characteristics of our competitors, we choose which one to use by determining which will benefit us most in contrast to the competition. The arm is designed to flip the disks as well as lift them onto the pegs. It folds up easily into the robot in order to meet size constraints, as well as to enable easy driving. The launcher, however, is fixed to the center of the bot so that its angle remains constant for easy handling. It uses a conveyor belt to launch balls from the top of the robot so that that ball's path has the least obstruction possible.

Team 6865E Robot Model By Carter Strickland |
The TeamOur team consists of Daigon Fontenot, our team leader and head builder, who developed the design for the arm. Carter Strickland is our head programmer and a builder, and he designed the launcher. Noelle Balderas is the publicist, time manager, and a builder who documented the process of making the robot and made sure that the team stayed on task. Daniel Andrade is our materials manager, a builder, and team morale booster. He made sure all of our materials were accessible in order to remain on schedule, assisted with building whenever he was needed, and gave words of encouragement when the team was stressed. Finally, Evelyn Estrada is our main driver and a builder. She studied the robot while building it in order to understand it to the best of her ability, as it will help her as she drives the bot to victory.

The TacticWhile our focus is on scoring, we also want to help our alliance. With an interchangeable arm and launcher we hope to fill the role our alliance may not take. With our arm we are capable of flipping caps and placing them on the posts while our launcher is capable of switching medium and high placed flags. Our robot also does not use omni-wheels, allowing us to hold our place on the alliance platforms in the center of the field, earning us more points. Our main strategy with the arm is to score as many high post caps as we can while also removing the opposing alliance’s off and preventing them from replacing their caps. For our launcher, we plan to score as many flags as we can with a focus being on switching our competitor’s first. For both the arm and launcher we hope to make it to the center alliance platform before the end of the match to acquire more points.
